Elmore Leonard: Literary Legend Dead at 87

Amanda Kirkham

Elmore Leonard passed away this morning due to complications related to a stroke he had last month. Leonard is the novelist responsible for the stories several great films were adapted from including, Get Shorty, Out of Site, and 3:10 to Yuma (both versions). Perhaps his best work is a short story he wrote titled, “Fire in the Hole” which serves as the basis for what, in my opinion, is the best show on television, Justified. Focused on the interactions of a Deputy U.S. Marshall and his former friend, turned drug dealer, it’s mob meets cop drama in Kentucky backwoods. Leonard will be sorely missed in both the entertainment and literary worlds alike. (via. variety  )
